X- Block

Classes

Kindergarten

Kindergarten is a time to explore and discover. In the art room we do this through use of the SMARTboard and hands on projects. We discover and learn about the colors, various lines and shapes that are all around us. We learn abouut and apply our observational skills to what we see everyday in the classroom, at home and in nature and begin to explore the possibilities Art has to offer.

Grades 1 & 2

Student's in grades 1 and 2 are exposed to a variety of different Art media. They have the opportunity to draw, paint with watercolors and tempra and build in 3D with materials like clay, wood and cardboard. We begin to look at the elements of Art and how to communicate through a work of art.

Grades 5 & 6

Opportunities and Explorations into the work of Art really begin to take the personal style of each budding young artist. Grade 5 and 6 student's continue their learning and understanding of the elements of Art and become more aware of how they, as the artist, can influence and impact the viewer. Personal style and development of skills are enhanced through hands on experiences, technology, reading and writing.

X-Block and Lunchtime Art

Student's in grades 5 and 6 have two unquie times to experience extra time in an area that they have a passion for. Lunchtime Art takes place during recess time. During this time student's come to the artroom to participate in different art related activities that further their knowledge and skills.

X-Block time dives into the world of Art on a much deeper level and is primarily driven by student interest and development.
